Hypervigilance at Home Plan
Dose the skill down, do not shame it

Vigilance that kept someone alive does not switch off because the setting changed. This page treats it as a skill running in the wrong context — dosed down, not deleted — and gives the household a shared plan.
Orienting: name five things in the room, long exhale, feet on the floor. Conversation is still possible.
Change the input: step outside, cold water, walk the perimeter once and stop. Keep sentences short.
Movement before words. Leave the crowd, get space, no problem-solving and no arguing at this level.
Safety only, and a pre-agreed signal that ends the situation without discussion or blame.
Dose it down, do not shame it
Telling someone their scanning is irrational rarely reduces it. Matching the response to the level, and agreeing an exit in advance, reliably does — and protects the relationships that make recovery possible.
