Aftercare & Repair Post-Sex

Land the plane on purpose

TherapistAssist logo

What happens in the 30 minutes after sex predicts more about the relationship's erotic life than what happened during. Rolling over to your phone teaches the nervous system something. So does staying.

Your after-map
What you tend to feel physically 5–30 min after sex
What you tend to feel emotionally (soft / raw / sleepy / distant / weepy / any of these on any day)
What you currently do next
What you wish would happen instead
A simple after-ritual
  • Ten minutes of staying — no phones, no getting up
  • One appreciation, out loud
  • Water, tissue, a blanket — logistical care
  • A soft check-in: 'how are you landing?'
  • If either of you dropped or feels weepy, name it — post-coital dysphoria is common and not a rejection
If something didn't land — repair, not autopsy
One thing to name (softly, non-shaming) and one thing to try differently

The nervous system remembers the ending

A gentle ending recompiles the whole experience as safe. A cold ending overrides the good middle. Land the plane on purpose.
