Racial Trauma Worksheet
Race-based traumatic stress, worked one incident at a time

Race-based traumatic stress is trauma with an ongoing stressor: the event is rarely finished, and the same threat can arrive again on the commute home. This page works one incident end to end without asking the client to prove that it counted.
That the incident happened as described. Nothing here asks the client to argue for it or to consider a benign explanation.
Separating the event, the body's response, and the exhausting work that came after — so each can be treated differently.
Do not treat this as a distortion
Cognitive restructuring aimed at a real racist event re-injures. The thoughts to work with are the internalised ones — 'I overreacted', 'I should have handled it better' — not the accurate appraisal of what happened.
