Anniversary Reaction Plan

Mark it deliberately or it marks you

Anniversaries — the death date, birthday, holidays, seasonal cues — often bring a resurgence that feels like regression. It is not. It's the body remembering. Planning ahead changes the experience.

Which anniversary is coming
Date; what it will mark
What has helped in past anniversaries
My plan for the day
  • Who I'll spend it with (or intentional solitude)
  • A ritual — visit, candle, meal, letter, walk
  • A commitment I'm not adding that day
  • A soft landing planned for the evening
What I'll tell one person in advance so I'm not alone in it

Mark it deliberately

Anniversaries do not get less loud by being ignored. They get less loud by being met.
