Family Grief & Loss Ritual Worksheet
Grieve together without grieving alike

Families often grieve in wildly different ways, and confuse difference for wrongness. This sheet designs shared rituals that hold the loss together without demanding everyone grieve alike.
Who we lost — and what they meant to each of us
How each family member is grieving
Talkers, doers, disappearers, humorists, memorializers, ragers. All valid.
Shared rituals we're creating
- An annual date (birthday / anniversary)
- A physical marker (place, object, photo wall)
- A shared act (candle, meal, walk, donation)
- Space to say the person's name in normal conversation
What we agree not to require of each other
Grief isn't a schedule
Anniversaries land differently on different family members. Making room for that difference is the ritual.
