Self-leadership is what IFS is aiming toward — the 8 Cs (Calm, Curiosity, Compassion, Clarity, Confidence, Courage, Creativity, Connectedness) present enough that parts trust Self to lead. This worksheet audits which are online this week and which are hard to reach.

Which C is hardest to reach — and which part is likely blending when it is?
One relationship or decision where more Self-leadership is called for this week

About this worksheet

Self-leadership is what IFS is aiming toward — the state where the 8 Cs (Calm, Curiosity, Compassion, Clarity, Confidence, Courage, Creativity, Connectedness) are present enough that parts trust Self to lead. The worksheet audits each of the eight on a 0–10 scale for this week, names which C is hardest to reach and which part is likely blending when it is, and picks one relationship or decision where more Self-leadership is called for this week. This is not a personality assessment. Self-leadership fluctuates — a client can be at 8 on Compassion and 2 on Confidence in the same week, and both are workable. The audit's job is to make the fluctuation visible and point to the specific C that is missing from the moment where leadership is needed.

When to use it

  • Ongoing IFS work — weekly self-check-in.
  • Leadership coaching adapted from IFS framework.
  • Spiritual direction adjunct.
  • Between-session anchoring for clients doing deeper parts work.
  • Whenever the client says 'I don't know how to lead this' — the audit surfaces which C is missing.

How to use it

  1. 1
    Rate honestly, not aspirationally

A 3 on Calm this week is workable data. A dishonest 7 protects nothing and hides the intervention target.

  2. 2
    The hardest C is diagnostic

Which C is hardest reveals which part is most active in blending. Compassion low usually means a critical part is up; Calm low usually means a firefighter is scanning.

  3. 3
One specific decision, not the whole life

'More Self-leadership in my life' is not workable. 'More Self-leadership in the conversation with my sister on Sunday' is.

  4. 4
    Compare across weeks

The audit is longitudinal. The C that stays low across sheets is where the parts work is.

Frequently asked questions

Are the 8 Cs sequential or parallel?+

Parallel. All eight can move independently; the audit maps their current parallel state, not a stage.

Is Self ever fully unblended?+

In IFS theory Self is always present; access to Self varies. The audit measures access, not existence.

Is this worksheet free?+

Yes. Free printable PDF. Sign in to send as a secure client link.
