Return-to-School / Work Plan

Step-up in demand + step-down in structure — planned before the first Monday

TherapistAssist logo

Returning to school or work after ED treatment is a step-up in demand and a step-down in structure at the same time. This plan lines up academic / workload adjustments, meal support during the day, movement boundaries, and check-in cadence — before the first Monday hits.

Return date
School / employer / role
Who at school / work knows (advisor, HR, coach, disability office)
Accommodations requested (reduced load, extensions, breaks)
Meals during the day
Meal / snack
Where I'll eat it
Time protected
Support / accountability
Movement / gym / PE / sports plan approved by team
What I won't take on in the first 4 weeks (extra shifts, tryouts, big projects)
Weekly check-in with clinician / RD
Step-back-up criteria if the return is destabilizing

Ambition after treatment is compassionate, not maximal

Every recovered clinician says the same thing: 'I went back too fast the first time.' A slower re-entry protects the whole return. The goal isn't to catch up — it's to stay in it.
