Self-esteem activities for kids
My Strengths Spotlight is a free self-esteem activity for kids ages 7–12 — a digital version of the classic self esteem worksheets for kids used in counseling. Children pick the strengths that are true about them, name one thing they're proud of, and walk away with a personal spotlight statement they can revisit on hard days.
Common questions
How do you build self-esteem in kids?
Not through praise alone. Real self-esteem comes from a child's own ability to identify and own their strengths. Activities where the child chooses what's true about themselves (rather than being told) have the strongest long-term effect.
What's a strengths spotlight?
A short, child-built statement listing 3–5 personal strengths and one thing they're proud of. It becomes a re-readable reminder of identity that helps counter negative self-talk.
How often should kids do this activity?
Once is meaningful. Doing it weekly or monthly — and adding new strengths as the child grows — turns it into an ongoing self-concept practice.
