Somatic Tracking Worksheet (PRT)

Curiosity, not fixing

TherapistAssist logo

Pain Reprocessing Therapy (PRT) works on nociplastic pain by reducing threat around the sensation. Somatic tracking is its core exercise.

Somatic tracking
  • Bring attention to the sensation with curiosity, not fear
  • Notice what it actually is — temperature, pressure, movement, location
  • Add a message of safety: 'this is a signal, not damage'
  • Stay for 30–60 seconds; notice any shift
  • End before frustration

Curiosity, not fixing

You are not trying to make the pain go away. You are teaching the brain the sensation isn't dangerous. The going-away is downstream.
