Flash Technique Worksheet
Low-intensity preparation for high-charge memories

A low-intensity preparation tool for memories too charged to approach directly. The client never sits in the disturbing image — they flash past it.
Identify the disturbing memory
Title only — do not open the image.
Choose a positive engaging focus (PEF)
A memory, song, person, or activity that genuinely lights the client up.
Run the flashes
Client focuses on PEF + BLS; you cue: 'flash' (rapid 3-blink). Repeat 4–6 sets, checking PEF stays positive.
Re-rate
Now briefly check the original memory.
If you use Flash with complex trauma, you'll love EMDR Assist — a dedicated workspace for the full 8-phase protocol, BLS, and target tracking.
