Trace an automatic thought down to the belief beneath it

Core beliefs are the deep rules we hold about ourselves, others, and the world. They run underneath automatic thoughts and color every situation that fits their theme.

The recurring automatic thought
If that thought were true, what would it mean about me? (Repeat "and that means…" 3–5 times)
Core belief that surfaced (e.g. I am unlovable, I am defective, others will leave)
Evidence that has reinforced this belief
Evidence against the belief I usually overlook
Where I learned this belief — and whose voice it really is
A new, more accurate belief I want to grow toward
How strongly I believe the NEW belief (0–100)
