When Self isn't accessible enough for in-Self dialogue

TherapistAssist logo

Sometimes Self isn't accessible enough for in-Self dialogue with a part — the part is fully blended, or the client is new to parts work. Direct access: the therapist (or the client's journal) speaks TO the part, and the part answers directly.

The part I'll speak to (name / role)
Question 1 — 'How long have you been doing this job?'
Answer
Question 2 — 'What are you afraid would happen if you stopped?'
Answer
Question 3 — 'What would you want to do instead if you didn't have this job?'
Answer

Direct access is a bridge to Self

Use it when the client can't yet find enough Self to hold the conversation. Over time, as Self grows, in-Self dialogue takes over.
